太陽磁暴臨 港航班須改道

(綜 合報道)(星島日報報道)由太陽風暴引起的十年來最大型磁暴，周二與地球大氣層相撞，使到航機須改變飛行路綫。美國達美航空公司表示，他們已調校由美國飛 往亞洲的跨極地航綫，避免磁暴影響航機飛行。來自香港、上海和首爾的航機，由周日起已改為偏南航綫飛行。這場磁暴相信會持續至周三，它對人類沒有傷害，但 會影響極地衞星通訊及無綫電短波。天文愛好者則可追看太陽粒子與大氣粒子猛烈相撞後產生的更壯觀極光。法新社

MEs TARGET EARTH, MARS: The odds of a geomagnetic storm on Dec. 28th are improving with the launch of two CMEs toward Earth in less than 24 hours. NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft photographed this one on Dec. 26th:

According to a forecast track prepared by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the cloud should squarely strike Earth's magnetic field on Dec. 28th at 20:22 UT (+/- 7 hours). Another CME could deliver a glancing blow a few hours earlier on the same date. The double impact is expected to spark mild-to-moderate geomagnetic storms at high latitudes. Aurora alerts: text, voice.

太陽風暴令阿肯色州現北極光

在正常情況下，要看北極光，需要到在靠近北極圈附近的區域，諸如挪威才能有幸見到。但近日一股太陽風暴爆發，令到位處較南位置的美國阿肯色州也可以一睹北極光的絢麗景象。

近日爆發的太陽風暴擊中地球，攜帶大量帶電粒子的太陽風與地球磁場相互作用產生磁暴，而美國大部份地區適逢無雲黑夜，以致阿肯色州出現絢麗壯觀的北極光。

此外，肯塔基州、喬治亞州、首都華盛頓、維珍尼亞州和威斯康辛州都有人目睹北極光。
